As a result of the general municipal election held on November 8, 2022, the city clerk and city treasurer positions have become appointive. At the same municipal election, both the existing city clerk and city treasurer were reelected for four-year terms. Pursuant to Government Code Section 36510, the city clerk and city treasurer, on the date of the ordinance codified in this chapter, shall each retain their position until the expiration of their four-year term or in the event of a vacancy, whichever occurs first. Upon expiration of the term of the city clerk or city treasurer or if either office becomes vacant, the city manager shall have the authority to appoint replacements. The city manager shall also have the authority to remove each officer. The office of the city clerk shall henceforth be known as the "city clerk/administrative manager." (Ord. 725 §1(a), 2023).
