Any person violating any of the provisions of this chapter shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor, and, upon conviction, shall be punishable by a fine of not more than five hundred dollars, or by imprisonment for a period of not more than six months in the city jail, or by both such fine and imprisonment.
