A. The head of the fire department of the city is designated as fire chief.

B. The fire chief shall aid in the enforcement of all laws and ordinances relating to fires, fire prevention, or protection from fires. He shall, if possible, attend and take charge of and protect all property which may be imperiled by fire. He shall encourage the adoption of fire prevention measures by means of education, and shall prepare or cause to be prepared for dissemination information relating to the subject of fire prevention and extinguishment.
